Egbe Amofin Oodu’a Adopts Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN as Consensus Candidate for 2026 NBA Presidency at Abeokuta AGM

Abeokuta, Ogun State – August 7, 2025: The Egbe Amofin Oodu’a, the umbrella association of Yoruba lawyers, has officially adopted Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, FCIArb (Life Bencher) as its consensus aspirant for the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Presidential election. The decision was reached at the Egbe’s 2025 Annual General Meeting, held at Mitros Residences, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, under the chairmanship of Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN.

The adoption followed the presentation of a detailed evaluation report by a special committee chaired by the Vice Chairperson of Egbe Ms. Toyin Bashorun, SAN, which assessed aspirants on six parameters, including Bar experience, vision clarity, and commitment to Egbe ideals. Aare Akinboro emerged as the highest-ranked candidate.

Resolutions from the AGM also include encouraging judicial officers to participate in Egbe activities, fixing the first week of August annually for its conference, reaffirming the 2019 resolution to favour the Oyo/Osun axis for the 2026 NBA Presidency, and announcing Osogbo, Osun State, as the venue for the 2026 Annual Conference.

The Egbe urged all members to unite behind Aare Akinboro’s candidacy in the spirit of equity and progress, reaffirming its commitment to advancing South-West interests within the NBA.
